The Green Elephant 1999 is an 86 minuet long Russian Art-House and Slasher Gore Film Directed by Svetlana Baskova. The story is of two main actors Sergey Pakhomov and Vladimir Epifantsev, which follows their characters locked in a military prison cell dealing with “social and psychological problems” in their isolation through brutality and torture. This gritty and dirty SOV looking style movie lives up to what everybody says it does, it has a lot of gore so for me this is a bonus. It does start slow with the characters talking a fair bit but once it get’s started there is no turning this movie off, unless you haven't got what it takes of course!.
The language is Russian so if I can find a version with subtitles I will definitely watch this movie again. There is no Soundtrack to this movie only screams and odd noises in the background.
There is only two people, 4 at the max in this movie but there is most certainly a lot going on. The camera quality isn’t as good as you’re typical horror movie but this could be because it is meant to be a SOV style but it isn’t bad at all. I would rate this movie 5/10, only because of the camera style and quality.
This movie is definitely worth a watch at least once and does deserve a place in everyone’s Gore Movie Collection.
